Have you seen this story? Here’s the gist of it. A couple was using Fitbit and noticed that the wife had an elevated heart rate. They thought it was a glitch, but a Reddit user suggested that she might be pregnant. Turns out she was. The article said they were trying to get pregnant. Apparently, they weren’t using FAM. While I can’t force the world to use FAM, I can try to educate people of the benefits of using it especially if the goal is pregnancy. By the time her Fitbit had told her she was pregnant, she was already well out of her luteal phase (she was five weeks at her initial doctor visit), but had she been using FAM, she would have known much sooner that she was pregnant. This article appeared on many different websites. I think this is ridiculous. This is sensationalizing pregnancy as STILL (remember it’s 2016 not 1816) some miraculous thing, and no one is quite sure exactly how it happens. I hate this. It’s ignorant. It’s not the couple’s fault for not practicing FAM. That’s their choice. It’s the damn media’s fault. STOP TREATING PREGNANCY LIKE IT’S SOMETHING GOD DELIVERS TO WOMEN WHO ARE BLESSED! It’s science! It can be explained! It can be predicted! It can be well timed! Ugh. Off the sooapbox. Mic drop.
In other news it’s Valentine’s Day. As I previously mentioned Valentine’s Day isn’t a reciprocal holiday in Japan. However, my husband took it upon himself to send me a dozen pink (my favorite color obvi) roses. I cried. I was so happy I cried. Marriage is hard kids. Let me tell you in case no one did. We sometimes fight, cry, and yell. It’s not always perfect, but it’s worth it. I don’t want to be with anyone else ever, and I don’t want to experience life with anyone else. Multiply the stress of everyday life times TTC and things just get all kinds of stressful, but I try to focus on the good things which far outweigh any hiccups. He’s kind. He’s generous. He has a big heart and most importantly he makes me laugh. He always takes care of me. I am one very lucky lady.
