Gmail and babies everywhere…

Mamoru had over 1100 emails.

(I know.  I know.  I promised you fall leaves, but this is important dammit.  Fall leaves tomorrow.)

We use gmail.  Gmail is great.  I love it.  I recommend everyone use gmail.  (I don’t work for gmail.)  Unfortunately, within the mail app on iPhone you cannot delete your emails.  Sometimes my mailbox is overwhelmed with junk (maybe 200 or so junk mails).  But 1100.  No.  Never.  Side bar: Mamoru has an office in our house.  He stacks things and more things and even more things in this office but never cleans out the office.  His gmail was like that.  (News to him is that office belongs to the baby once he or she arrives because it’s right next to the bedroom.  I can’t wait to have that fight.)  Moving on, Mamoru is a bit of a snail when it comes to technology, and he’s fairly new to gmail (within the past 2 years or so), so I had to teach him the gmail basics.  We just finished up our gmail lesson.

When I first got Mamoru on board with adoption, he was very adamant about contacting NPOs.  Then, he kind of tapered off.  All this week I have been sending him information because he’s busy working, and I can fumble my way through the Japanese internet.  We had some trouble finding the institutions, but we’ve finally manged to get their contact information.  We just spent the last two hours searching and discussing NPOs, institutions, and gmail which are all connected.  He’s using gmail to contact a lot of these organizations and lo and behold, some emails got shuffled into the junk mail folder.  He’s now been taught to star/flag all emails pertaining to adoption and to keep his mailbox clean.

Earlier today he spent about 30 minutes (he said) talking to an organization.  When he told me about it tonight, he said they only have older children.  It was the organization I was most hopeful about, but I’ve crossed it off the list for now.  It’s a bit disheartening, and I’m afraid much of this process will get me down from time to time.  When that happens, I’ll be here talking to you, dear readers.  Please send me your good luck and all the cheers you have.

When I first started this blog it was called Babies Everywhere because I was so hopeful and optimistic about getting pregnant which meant I was always thinking of it which meant I saw babies everywhere.  I’ve since changed the name of this blog and haven’t felt much like noticing all the babies until we got the ball rolling on adoption.  Now again, I’m seeing those darned babies everywhere.  They’re so fucking cute with their mops of hair.  Here we go again.  Don’t worry, I won’t be changing the name again.

Anyway, those are my recent frustrations.  Think happy thoughts for us.  We need it.
